Vintage Datsun Emblem Novelty Round Sign

Before the Datsun brand name came into being, an automobile named the DAT car was built in 1914 in Tokyo. At the beginning, DAT focused on trucks since there was almost no consumer market for passenger car. By 1935, the company had established a true production line, following the example of Ford, and were producing a car closely resembling the Austin 7. When WWII ended, it provided trucks for the Occupation forces, until car production resumed in 1947. In the late 1950s, Datsun decided to expand into worldwide markets. the management realized their Datsun small car line would fill an unmet need in markets such as Australia and the United States. They first showed cars at the 1958 Los Angeles Auto Show. In 1960, Datsun continued to improve their sedans with the latest technological advancements and chic Italianate styling in sporty cars such as the Datsun Fairlady roadsters, the Datsun 510 and the world-class Datsun 240Z. By 1970, Nissan had become one of the world's largest exporters of automobiles, and a true Legendary Brand.
