Opel Collection of Apparel and Accessories by Legend Lines
OPEL is a German automobile manufacturer, and a subsidiary of General Motors Company, founded in 1862, by Adam Opel. The first cars were produced in 1899 after Opel's sons entered into a partnership a locksmith who had been working on automobile designs for some time These cars were not very successful and so the partnership was dissolved after two years. After WWII, Cars as well as truck production lines were lost by Opel as reparations for war destruction, under plans of the Allied Forces. Only the strong resistance of the American government within whose zone of occupation the factory was located, prevented the total dismantling of the entire Opel plant as reparations in Russia. By the 1970s, Opel had emerged as the stronger of GM's two European brands (Vauxhall). Opel cars appeared under their own name in the U.S. from 1958 to 1975, when they were sold through Buick dealers. The best-selling Opel models in the U.S. were the 1964 to 1972 Opel Kadett, the 1971 to 1975 Opel Manta, and the now-classic 1968 to 1973 Opel GT. Historically, Opel vehicles have also been sold at various times in the North American market as either heavily modified, or "badge engineered" models under the Chevrolet, Buick, Pontiac Saturn, and Cadillac brands. Almost a hidden Legend!
