1952 Oldsmobile Super 88 Apparel and Accessories by Legend Lines

“Oldsmobile”Both the Oldsmobile Super 88 and the top-of-the-line 98 shared the 303 cubic-inch Rocket V8 engine equipped with a Rochester 4GC four-barrel or Carter WGD four-barrel carburetor, and delivered 160 hp. Although sharing the same powerplant, the Super Eighty-Eight had a shorter wheelbase and smaller footprint that it shared with the entry-level Deluxe Eighty-Eight. Standard features found on the Super 88 included rubber floor mats, dual horns, aluminum door sill plates, an electric clock, 7.60 x 15-inch tires, foam rubber seat cushions, turn signals, and stainless steel gravel shields. The interior upholstery choices included nylon sharkskin, nylon Bedford cord, leather, or broadcloth. Within Oldsmobile, the Super Eighty-Eight was the most popular, accounting for over 55-percent of total company sales. With the help of the Rocket engine, the Oldsmobile dominated the NASCAR circuit through the 1952 model year, when the Hudson Hornet took the lead. The Oldsmobile was a force on the race track and the showroom, catapulting Oldsmobile to fourth in industry rankings for 1952, a new high for the company.
